I have tested heartworm positive. This means I have a parasite and need treatment. While my friends at HSNBA desperately want to help me, the shelter is too stressful an environment to undertake treatment and treatment itself is very expensive. The shelter has a few options to help with treatment, and if I steal your heart you should talk with them and your vet about what my treatment is like. For more information on heartworms, please visit the American Heartworm Society here https://www.heartwormsociety.org/pet-owner-resources/heartworm-basics
I am currently in a foster home and not at HSNBA, if you are interested in meeting me, please contact the nice folks at HSNBA so they can put you in contact with my foster family to set up a meet & greet. E-mail HSNBA at adoption@hsnba.org, call us at: (830) 629-5287 or stop by and speak with the folks at HSNBA at 3353 Morningside Dr. to get your information sent over to my foster home. My foster family is the best and can give you more information on me.
Meet Goofus!
This sweet Rhodesian Ridgeback & Staffordshire Terrier mix is the definition of a love bug. Goofus will need to start undergoing treatment for heartworms and needs a calm, comfortable home where he can rest and heal—but don’t worry, his goofy, lovable personality is still shining through!
Goofus is gentle, affectionate, and so ready to bring joy and cuddles to his forever family. Once his treatment is complete, you’ll get to see the full extent of his silly side—and trust us, he lives up to his name in the best possible way!
Goofus is vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. All he’s missing is a cozy place to recover and someone to love him through it all. Could that someone be you?
